The medication, Sporanox, causes his fur to have a different look and texture to it and also causes it to thin out.

Treatment: Was diagnosed immediately; approx 1 wk after symptoms appeared.
Perscribed Sporanox, but given another drug due to its immediate unavailability; 4 days until Sporanox given - 2nd wk

Wk 3 & 4 - Given water through IV; I was taught to do this to him myself; given steroids to increase appetite; on the brink of death here; was ready to have him put down.

Wk 5 - turned around, began to get better

Symtoms started at the beginning of August 2011; started meds; still on Sproanox in October 2011 and will be on it until at least the end of February 2012.

Cost of Treatment: Treatments are cheaper for me if I buy it by the bottle.

I buy a 150ml bottle of the medication for $169.00; last me a little over a month

Additional Comments: I am glad my dog, Oscar, a pure bred shitzu survived.
