Medical Diagnosis of Blastomycosis?: Yes

Where Caught: Murphy inhaled blastomycosis spores when we bought an empty lake lot last year...and were in the process of clearing the land of bushes, so that we can build.

Symptoms: Initally he was lethargic. We caught the Blasto early and began treatment. After 4 months the vets said we could discontinue the Itraconazole treatment because he was having a severe allergic reaction to it. (May) Murphy passed away Sept 6/11. He was absolutely normal with no symptoms until 4 days before his passing. His symptoms before passing were lack of appetite and shortness of breath that gradually got worse until he collapsed. We tried putting him back on the drug 1 day before he passed away.

Treatment: Itraconazole

Cost of Treatment: $6500 Canadian between the vet bills xrays and drugs.
