Where Caught: Most likely somewhere along the trails by my home, as I live in close proximity to water and our area is along the Missouri River.

Symptoms: Symptoms were only noticed during a week or so. It started with heavy breathing and coughing, which progressed to gagging and finally, vomiting up white fluid and sometimes food. Water intake increased - constantly wanted to drink water. Later progressed to very heavy breathing and eventually a lack of apetite and would not eat.

Treatment: Anti-nausea pills, once a day

Started with itraconazole (once a day), but only was able to treat one day with the pill, because he died the next day.

Cost of Treatment: $231 for itraconazole. Additional costs for xrays, urine sampling to confirm prognosis, etc.
