Medical Diagnosis of Blastomycosis?: Yes

Where Caught: We live in Toronto, but spend week ends on our boat in Georgian Bay. I believe Bosun contracted Blastomycosis from either;

resting under the deck of a restaurant located close to the bay;
exploring near a recently landscaped area near the water;
walking on an Island, where a lighthouse is being rennovated

Symptoms: Initially a cough, thought to be Kennel Cough. X rays followed, diagnosed as aspriational pneumonia. Further symptoms developed including loss of appetite, loss of weight, fatigue, depression. Eventual loss of eyesight, with 80% retina detachment

Treatment: Spornax for the first month. Fluconozole for the second and third. Eye procedure performed twice at the University of Guelph, with the injection of a Voriconazole and Triamcinolone in both eyes.

Atropine and Tobradex eye drops

Cost of Treatment: To date: $12,000.00

Additional Comments: Bosun at the time of writing 13 January has almost fully recovered including return of his eyesight.
