Where Caught: Jessie loved to pick out rocks from the rivers and lakes and bury them in the soil near by so that it is one possibility. The other possibility that we had gotten 15 yards of soil delivered to our house and Jessie was burying rocks in that soil.

Symptoms: His initial symtoms were lameness on and off in his good left leg (on his other leg he had ACL surgery 1.5 years ago. His next symptom was eye goop in his eyes. His eye got progressively worse. He also was very lethargic - until 2 weeks before he died he was running 6 miles daily with us. He then had difficulties breathing.
From his first symtomes until we had to put him down, it was only 2 weeks. It affected him really quickly and in his lungs.

Treatment: Initally they did blood work and found his thyroid levels were low and give him thyroid meds. When that was not helping, they x-rayed his leg thinking it was bone ca, then they x-rayed his abdomen and lungs and found spotting on his lungs and thought maybe lung ca or blastomyocosis but did not think it was blasto because he was not coughing. They suggested doing a blasto test 2 days later but 2 days later we did the blood test (the diagnosis was confirmed after he had died) but he was having such problem breathing and his heart rate was 180 that we knew he would not last long enough for the meds to kick in.

Cost of Treatment: $1600.00
Just for all the tests etc
