Species: Dog

Sex: Male

Age: 10

Year: 10

Country: U.S.A.

Locality: Peoria,IL

Survived?: No

Medical Diagnosis of Blastomycosis?: No

Where Caught: I live in an rental townhome and believe that in was in the new mulch that was laid several weeks ago. I found out the mulch came from Wisconsin, where I have read blasto has been reported

Symptoms: loss of appetite, difficulty breathing

Treatment: No treatment for the Blasto was given. I brought him to the vet on May 4th, and they still don't have the results back. Cisco Died on Saturday May 9th, 2009
He was put on broad spectrum antibiotics in case other complications occured.

Cost of Treatment: For the xrays, tests, the cost was $733 US dollars

Additional Comments: I feel that waiting over 10 days for test results is ridiculous. I still don't know if that's what he had, and I have another dog that I am watching closely in the event blasto is confirmed. They said it could also be a tumor which this may sound heartless but I wish that were it. I would not have made Cisco suffer this and as I drove him to the emergency clinic watch him die before I ever got him there was heartbreaking. There has got to be a quicker way to diagnose this.
