Where Caught: He caught it from a new home development area or the lakeside of lake simcoe.

Symptoms: Started off with lack of eating, losing weight, breathing started to become abnormally faster. Didn't want to walk long, lathargic.

Treatment: He is on his third week of treatment with Itra, still breathing heavier, especially at night. He has recently shown lack of bowel movement but still will go pee. He sneezes when excited or over exhausted as well as hacking to catch his breath.

Cost of Treatment: Well......so far I have spent around $700.00. I have a feeling that I will be spending a lot more. It cost me $169.00 for 15 days of Itra. He takes 2 a day.

Additional Comments: I hope that we all overcome this. I'm learning every day and getting stronger, with all the love and help from this website with people who truly care. I'm living on hope and will with a lot of love for my dog, Jackson. I believe he will be himself again, one day.

update-Jackson was put to rest on Sept 20th, 2008. It was a hard decision to make but I believe it was a selfless decision on my part due to the fact of his state, at the time of his last visit to the animal hospital. He turned for the worst after 2 and 1/2 weeks of treatment. He began to excessively drool, basically he was drowning in own lung fluid. His oxygen level was at 77, normal is 98.
He was choking on his saliva and looked in great discomfort.
He was due to have another siezure very soon and I knew he would never live through it. As hard as it was to make the decision to put him to rest, I felt that is was better to stop the suffering. He clearly was not getting better. I miss him so much and it is so hard to not have him around, but I keep thinking that he is at peace now and he we will always have a part of my hart.
