Are the spores in my dogs feces?
« on: October 21, 2017, 03:27:00 PM »
Hi everyone,
My 7 year old black labs (brother and sister) broke out with red welts about a week ago and we just started treatment (fluconozole).   Someone recently left  the backyard fence open and the dogs were out for 4 hours.  We do live near a creek, so I am thinking that's when/where  they caught it.
Anyway, if I didn't have blasto in my yard before, will the dog poop carry the spores and cause it to be in my yard now?  Can I leave my dogs out in the yard?

From what I've read, the spores get into the body and then morph into yeast-like organisms. So my best guess is no, the spores will not move through your dogs and end up in the yard. Keep researching though, don't give up. Hope this helps.
