Hi there: first time on this site but feel very compelled to write my story. During the time of writing this my second dog well no more like my third lab is fighting for his life. He was diagnosed two days ago and it feels like a life time already. I have dealt with this before. We had barely a year old lab and she came down with this nasty disease. Have I said I absolutely hate this stuff??? Anyhow...that was a couple of years ago and we went through  the meds...she became blind but still after a while she responded to treatment. But...she did well for a while and then had a relapse and she was much worse so we had to put her down.. :'(
Now Dex is fighting this thing again. I cannot tell you how much emotions I have gone through in the last couple of days. I guess the next couple of weeks we will see how well he responds to treatment. He has one eye involvement now and I am praying that we can spare the second.. I know I am preaching to the choir but trust me when I say this tooo much.

Good thing you have found this! It is soooo helpful and heartening... That said. it's just awful that you have to deal with this again. AWFUL! But now you have fellow footsoldiers in this terrible war on disease. We'll all be here for you. Cheering you on, and feeling your hard times.

All good things to you.
Barb and Bennie..... who is on day 8 in his fight. He's on Itra, and his showed up in a bone biopsy for osteo. it's in a rib.

So sorry to hear about Dex. And your other pup.

How in the world did this horrible thing sneak up on all of us? I hope you are doing well, and that we all can be an encouragement to you.

Hang in there!

Wishing you and Dex the best of luck to beat this!!  I just found out yesterday my Sadie tested negative for Blasto.  She's still very sick and tests may be wrong.  Sadie has respiratory symptoms.  But we are staying here because there is so much love and support from the moms and their doggies here.  Thinking of you and will add you and Dex to my prayer list.  We hate Blasto!!!

i am so sorry to hear about dex and your others....

where are you located? 3 dogs that have gotten blasto bust be a hot spot

it is nasty stuff and yes I think we all hate it  I never knew anything so nasty could be around.

I often say it is the earths way of telling man they need to stop destroying it all the land they just keep digging up ,building and taking homes away from the wild animals because man wants to the Indians only took what was needed never more and they gave back man does not
enough on that just my thoughts

stay strong and positive

Hi all: just an update on Dex. We got conformation on Wednesday that he does indeed have blasto. Didn't really need the test to tell us that. His bad eye has been swelling in the last couple of days. He is still on the antibiotic and hopefully that will keep things at bay. Just trying to keep him as healthy as possible. It looks like he is finallly putting on weight. I have what I am referring to as guarded optimism.

Do you have Dex on glaucoma medication?  Be sure to ask your vet about that -- anything you can do to keep that pressure down is what will help you save his eye!!!!!!!    If he's confirmed for blasto have you moved to anti-fungals and away from the antibiotics yet?

Thinking about you guys...

So sorry to hear about Dex.  For those of us who have battled Blasto, it will be a nightmare to face it again.  I know that I live in fear of another animal suffering from this.  I am so, so sorry and just want to tell you how much you are in my thoughts and prayers.  We can fight this - with education, and a board like this.  Please keep us posted, and know that so many, many people are wishing you the best....

So sorry about Dex.  Our Jack Russell had eye involvement and it hurt him so badly.  He would yip and whine.  It's been 3 months now.  His eye doesn't hurt him any more.  It's a long uphill road against this nasty fungus.
