Eva,
Egads, I got back in town just in time to vote. But I can't seem to get the registration process to work so that I can vote. I'll try again later tonight. How cool that you got Marge from a service dog group.
Here's a dream of mine. Our shelter took in a hearing service dog a couple of years ago. Her owner was very old and moving out of the area and wanted us to keep her until he was resettled. We lost contact with him and he never contacted us. His dog had worked for him for 10 years, the normal full span of service. I tried contacting all sorts of service dog groups and found there is no service dog rescue and the service dog trainers were absolutely unwilling to consider replacing this pooch with someone who could benefit from her capabilities and absolutely unwilling to deal with her at all. My dream, and I still have as a possibility, is to begin a service dog rescue. What happens to these remarkable animals when they've served their 10 years? What happens when their owners die? After all they give us, why isn't there an organization to give back to them? So my vision is a service dog "retirement home" (I love old dogs), rescue and placement. Ah, a dream yet.
ANyway, I'll try to get registered again and vote for Pierre. Hope he wins!
Carol
