MY MARGIE
Marges latest bone xray

We went to the vet yesterday to rexray Marges bone that we suspected had blasto in it. We couldnt get a definite diagnosis unless we did a bone biopsy but I didnt want to put Marge through that since we were all pretty sure. She was on 600 mg/daily itra for the last 90. Thats a high dosage because our thought was to attack this blasto fast and hard and get it the heck out of there. Marge has tolerated the itra really well and we did our kidney/liver blood work frequently to make sure her body was still in check. Her bloodwork yesterday came back still pretty good (kidney values a little high but both vets say no reason for concern). The bone xray was amazing. We went back and compared this xray to the last one we did which was sept09 and then the one prior which was feb09. Her bone looks so clean and almost perfect like her other paw. It was the best news ever. I cannot believe that after 2.5 years and 3 negative miravista test she still that wicked blasto hiding in there. What if she didnt signal us by licking the area? Would we have went forever without knowing? I am so overly happy for her that it is nearly all gone. Our next plan is to lower her dosage to 300mg daily and see if the licking starts again. If not, we will xray and then go every other day. The vet was nearly jumping up and down when she saw that beautifully clean bone! Marge has gained some weight too so I am sure she is feeling happier than ever. Large Marge is now up to 151 lbs! We were told no more weight gain so we will see how this goes. Thank you to everyone for your words of encouragement and great support! Cheers to Marge!

hi, i'm new on this forum. found it while i was looking up information for a friend. She thinks her dog may have this blasto, and i noticed you said your dog's lungs were full from it. Apparently hers has filled lungs, nothing else wrong except sore paws, and i was hoping you could help with any info that could help her. thank you for any help. rhon from ns canada
