Reading so much good info on this board- thank you!! and I am sorry for all that these sweet dogs have gone through.

Concerning diet-  Sounds like a high protein low carb/grain diet is best?  Am I understanding right that the yeast feeds on the sugars that come from grains?  I have been feeding Brooke ground turkey, oatmeal (about 50:50) with plain yogurt mixed in (the oatmeal and turkey is what the vet suggested at a ratio of 75:25-  I was doing 50:50 since Brooke had been doing well on a grain-free diet ... do I need to rethink this?  I understand that if she has no appetite, anything within reason is better than nothing- but I am curious to know how to feed her on days she has an appetite.
I am giving meds with peanut butter or processed cheese

thanks so much!!

You are correct in what you are saying about low grain high protein. My vet always told us that if Marge was going to eat it feed it to her. You also dont want too high of a protein diet because it is harder to process (I was told by holistic vet). Now we feed Marge a lot of veggies. It sounds as though you are doing great with her! How is she feeling?
