Buddy Update
« on: September 17, 2007, 12:31:39 PM »

I just talked to the vet.  The great news is Buddy finally has a normal temp today.  102.3  Unfortunately his weight dropped a couple of ounces but she said that could be from him not getting the fluids every other day.  The x-ray showed a little bit more of improvement from the one on Sept. 7.  I guess I have to be more patient.  I was hoping for a weight gain as well as a huge improvement on the x-ray.  I just hope now he can keep a normal temp.  The vet thinks thats why he started eating is because he finally broke the temp he was running.  Good news is that I don't have to take him back to the vet for a couple of weeks unless I notice something going on.  Plus only give fluids 2x a week instead of every other day.  I'll continue to syringe feed him 2x a day until I know he's really eating enough on his own.  The reality I have to remember it's still a long road ahead.

I know the hardest part is knowing that there is still that long road ahead. I want soooo badly for Marge to be better. I want her to back to healthy. It kills me knowing that this disease is still inside her and she has to fight it. What really bothers me too is that I am convinced that my mulch in my yard is where it came from. I cannot remove all of this mulch so hopefully the winter freeze will kill it all. I will never ever do mulch again in my life. I found a website that does rubber mulch and it last 15 years to next year that is what we are doing to make sure that blasto is nowhere near us again. I am glad that Buddy's fever broke. Marge's temp stayed at about 104-105 for two weeks. We are giving her deramaxx and it helped her fever a ton. We stopped giving Marge her fluids all together because she is now eating and drinking normally. She actually is eating more now than before she was sick. She is up to 8 cups a day and two chicken breasts. Even though there wasn't drastic improvement in Buddys xray remember that 1) it's only been ten days since the last and 2) any improvement is awesome! We will xray Marge in about 6 weeks to see progress.
