Hang in there. This was one of the toughest roads I was on. It was heartbreaking to watch Jigga be so sick. He went from being a piggy, a active 110lb teddy bear to a frail 80lb rottie. He was so weak, he wouldn't eat. we had to help him go up and down the stairs. We had to help hold him up just to go to  the bathroom. For weeks we camped out in the living room and slept on the floor with him. It broke my heart every day to watch him detiorate. I really did not think he was going to make it. I found this site the night he was diagnosed. I truly believe this website helped save his life. I gave jigga every thing possible to try to get him to eat. One day he would take bite of something the next day he'd refuse. It always seemed like he only wanted something once. I gave him mcd's burgers, chicken, ride, ground beef etc... I found that yogurt really helped. He wouldn't drink wated. I had to hold ice cubes to his mouth to get him to lick them. I truly thought that he was not going to make it. Then one day he just started to get gradually better. I knew he was gonna be fine when he picked up his rope and brought it to me even though he was still very weak. It has now been almost a year since he was diagnosed and he has been off his meds since spring. I am very greatful for each day that I have had with him. Be strong for your dog. She sounds like a fighter. Good luck keep us posted.

Jigga sounds like such a fighter.  You are describing exactly what we are seeing in Molly, one day she will eat something, the next day she won't eat at all.  I wish there was a time frame, like in 2 months your dog will be better, it just seems like she keeps going downhill.  I am going to keep fighting, because of the wisdom I am hearing from everyone on this site, it truly is a blessing.

Today is an awful day for Molly.  The salami has worked wonders, thank you Cathy for your advice, but today is a terrible day for her!  Today she is moaning, which she has never done before and having like dry heaves.  She ate about 6 pieces of turkey, which was so exciting, but she moans.  She is drinking some and went outside to go to the bathroom, then back in to sleep.  This is absolutely the worst disease I have ever seen.  I am praying for all of you and your dogs recovery.

Carrie, sorry to read Molly was having such a tough day.  This is truly a horrible disease. I know you might not want to put her through a trip to the vet or anymore poking or proding, but, have  you chatted with your vet about sending off a test to measure what the theraputic level of her antifungul is in her system. Having had such a high dose of Intra it might be an idea to make sure her level is good to treat the Blasto and another test to ensure her liver is functioning well after the high med dose.  MiraVista has a pretty quick test time turnaround to measure theraputic levels (www.miravista.com  if your vet doesn't use this lab you can print a test requistion directly from the site for them to use).
Prayers and good wishes to you two today.

Jennifer has a good idea about sending out blood work to MiraVista. I dont know if this is an option for you but what about some pain meds temporarily? Have you taken Mollys temp? We took Marges temp several times a day to see where her bad peak was. I would definitely recommend checking her temp and talking to your vet about possibly some pain meds. Marge was on Deramaxx and I think Wilson used some too but cant remember which one? We used it very short term just to get her along. I am sorry Molly is having such a bad day. Does she seems hot? Maybe put some damp towels on her belly or paws to cool her off. Stay strong and tell Molly she is such a good girl for her fight. Keeping you both in my thoughts and prayers,

Seriously, try raw (Stella and Chewey or other) or cooked meat (probably start with cooked if since her immune system is low), Francie didn't want to eat anything either, but couldn't say no to the raw meat... Judy  Another option is to look at Melaluka honey - which I put on her sores when they were at their worst - however after reading about it, I gave her internally also. Judy

Carrie,

I had a skinny, super athletic english pointer that normally would weigh about 50#.  During the blasto treatment he was down below 35#.  Nothing but skin and bones.  He looked terrible and just wouldn't eat.

Kinghty made it, it took him quite a while to gain back his strength and wind, but afterwords he was good as new, if a little spoiled.

Only you and your vet know how much is too much, but do keep in mind that many of us have been down that road and are here to tell you that this is beatable.  We've all thought the thoughts you're having.

Good luck, let us know how things are working out for you.

Eva,

Thanks for checking.  I have been avoiding the site the past few days Moll passed on Tuesday at 10:35 pm.  It was just too much for her I guess.  This was definitely one of the worst things I have ever seen in my life.  She is in a much better place and our family has handled it well.  Our other dog seems to be doing fine and handling it well also.  I will always be grateful for the advice and support I received from everyone on this site.  I have learned a lot and will make sure if I ever hear of someone who has a dog displaying the symptoms Molly did, the first place I will guide them is this site.  I am praying for everyone and their dogs to beat this awful disease and nobody else to have to go through this.

I am sad to read yet another loss. I am sorry for your loss. At least you fought for her and you did your best. She was well loved.
