Mika's Mira Vista test results -- lots of confusion
« on: October 19, 2009, 04:10:36 PM »

Hi folks,

After five months on Itra, Mika's first Mira Vista retest results are in:  4.7.

My vet says candidly, he doesn't know what that means but that he recommends the five months treatment she's already had.  "If you want to treat her another month, go ahead."  I've read enough on this forum to know that 4.7 is NOT low enough.  I plan to ask him for a prescription for fluconazole and will get the meds from Pet Pharmacy.  I'm not sure he'll give me prescription for more than one month's supply but will definitely ask when I finally get to talk to him (we're going one answering machine to the other right now).

This is frustrating.  We're in the right direction but the goal seems still far away.

Hi Carol,

Yes, 4.7 is not considered negative. I believe that 1 is considered negative. Five months is a short time to successfully treat and destroy all blasto. As you may know, Marge has been on meds for over 2 years and she still has some blasto hiding in her bones that we just cant seem to get rid of and her miravista test comes back below 1. Have you thought of maybe doing the miravista test that tells you how much medication is being absorbed into Mika? Maybe the dosage you have Mika on is not enough.

Why would your vet not give you another prescription other than one month? Thats just silly. No offense but some vets really tick me off. Hang in there and keep truckin, youve done a great job!

ps I think somebody on here has extra flucon if you wanna ask?
