update on Brea...
« on: July 21, 2009, 12:40:21 PM »

well, shes been on the Itra (90mgs twice a day) for almost 3 weeks. actually 3 weeks this friday. her temp is normal and breathing seems normal as well. appetite is normal. her right rear leg is still swollen, although its gone down some. her lesion on her nose is still about the same and I have noticed some new swelling on the same nostril just above the intitial area. this just came about yesterday AM. So, I'm going to take her in to get that looked at. maybe the Itra dosage needs to go up.

brea is going into the vet today. there seems to be additional swelling in her nose area. also, her rear right leg has some suspect areas even though the swelling has gone down. there are two spots on the lower portion close to her paw that are losing fur. on the bright side is her spririt is all there. she has been on the itra now for three weeks today. maybe her dosage needs to go up. eating like nothing is wrong....thankfully.

You guys are doing great!
let us know what happens at the vet....
With Wilson and I beleive a few others once they where  on treatmetn a bit,it seemed more things to pop out
as to say we think it was the yeast trying to fight to stay alive looking for another place to live.
wilsons sores got way worse once he started treatemtn but then with the clay and itra they got better
good luck today

well, its been some time since I last posted and Brea is doing fine. I still have her on the Itra and a blood test was done recently at the vet and was sent to the disease control center. the vet is actually using brea as a test subject since they've rarely seen the infection. the blood test results still showed a positive sign of the blasto ( results back today)...although very slight. the meds may need to be bumped up. I reduced them to just 1 90mg capsule some time ago ( maybe 6 weeks). looks like she may need to go back to a higher dose again. there is still some scar tissue of the lesion in her left nostril ( where the inititial lesion occured). Donna ( my girlfriend who works for the vet) has been nothing short of simply amazing. she is Brea's angel.  ;D
