Gunner vet appt.
« on: February 25, 2009, 10:17:56 AM »

Gunner had a vet appt last night to check is blood work again.  He has been on two liver support meds for over a month now and we need to check everything to be sure the meds are working.  Also, for alittle over a month Gunner has lost all the hair on his belly and is now losing patches of hair on the rest of his body.  The vet immediately commented last night about how much weight Gunner had gained when actually he only gained 2 lbs since his last visit.  Gunner is retaining that much fluid.  So we ordered up all kinds of tests for kidneys/liver and thyroid.  Gunner has also been drinking more water than I thought a dog could drink at one time and urinated alot more too.  The vet is leaning towards the kidneys but I wont know for sure until I get the blood work back this afternoon or thurs morning so I will keep everyone posted.  The vet complimented me so much on my constant care for Gunner that he made me cry last night.  He cant believe how well Gunner is doing and that it will be one year in a few weeks.  He said Gunner is an amazing dog--and he really is!

Wow - you have done amazing with Gunner and Gunner also. I think this is what it takes to help the vets understand that there is hope with blasto, seeing owners like you who are working so hard with their pets..Francie is crossing all her toes and hopes all good for Gunner!
