  That's a cute little guy!

thanks for looking at the pic - I was so proud of myself that it worked!!  I try and put his hair back in a "pony tail" but he won't leave it in - I guess it's against his "manhood".  He's a great dog - they are cuban and their hair protects their eyes from the strong sunlight there.  He already knew his name when we got him so we hated to change it - he's a mini moose!~  Have a great day!

he is a havanese - name comes from Havana (Cuba).  They are a great breed.  Smart, as non-shedding and hypoallergenic as you can get, not too hyper or laid back, very compliant and want to please.  Their only challenge is grooming.  Great with kids - however they are hard to find and especially hard to find AKC registered where you don't have to sign an agreement to agree to no breeding.  They want to keep the breed "pure" and don't want a bunch of backyard breeders.  I haven't bred him yet but wanted the option if I ever wanted to.  I figure if you're paying for a dog you should be able to make those decisions for yourself.  Seems to me a good way to keep the price up as they are pricey.  We love him.  Anyway - thanks and have a great day.

I hear you on the hair - I just spent about 3 hours combing Francie, giving her a bath and drying her - lots to keep up. She also (Portuguese Water Dog) is from the group that are very selective about who gets them, whether and who they are bred etc. but she's not a snob...smiles. I "rescued" her when she was 5 years old from a life of breeding - although she refused to breed.   Judy

that is so odd - I was recently looking at that breed - they seem interesting to me.  Are there rescue organizations out there that I could check into?

Many times after they have bred they give them up for adoption, I haven't looked into a rescue group for them. Francie refused to breed, which for some reason I found appealing - hutzpa or something like this. A person I knew just got one because of someone who became too old to take care of theirs.  Usually people see the all black dogs, they keep the white and black or the brown for breeding.
