MAYBE HAD IT??
« on: January 16, 2007, 09:18:41 AM »

After my dog was diagnosed with this horrible stuff, I started coughing horribly for weeks. Then I had a terrible pain in my lung for a couple months. My docter gave me antinflammatory meds. It has now been about 5mths and my pain is WAY better. However, every  now and then I will get a slight pain. My dog did pass away.

I'm very sorry about your dog.  I had a dog at the time I got this problem and he also died, he was killed accidentally. From what I understand, you can't get this disease from your dog and your dog can't get it from you.  I have 2 healthy dogs right now.  That's not to say that you couldn't have gotten exposed to this the same place where your dog did.  My illness started out as lung infections, I had chest pains and several bouts of bronchitis then started getting sores.  You should probably see your doctor and at least get a chest X-ray (which could still come out normal even if you were exposed).  Blastomycosis is pretty rare in most areas so be prepared for the fact that your doc may not believe blasto is a possibility but having a lung infection and chest pains is grounds for getting a chest X-ray and possibly even a CT scan anyway.   :)
