Still doing great, he continues to gain weight. The wound above his eye is taking forever to heal. When my vet comes back to duty I will get him in for tests. Please tell me which ones I should get and how to get them (urine, blood, stool,) so I know what to tell my vet. He didn't know what a Mira Vista test was. I put my stethascope to his lungs and they sound so much better! Jake has become a spoiled rotten brat. He loves to go bye-bye, so sometimes we just drive around to appease him.
I have to share this...I have been very sick the past few days, too sick to even get on the computer. I've heard that dogs can catch our colds so I've tried to keep my distance from everybody.  Jake jumped up on the bed and layed his head in my lap. HAVE I EVER MENTIONED I'M ALLERGIC TO DOGS? Yeah, God is a mixing Nyquil and Robitussin is a bad idea  :P

Bless your heart.  It seems everyone has been sick.  Maybe Jake wants to take care of you for a while.

You want to get a CBC and a kidney function test.  Its important to make sure the meds aren't taking a huge toll on his body.

The Mira Vista test is the Blasto antigen test, typically done with a urine sample.  Although it has its problems its a lot more accurate than an antibody test and it will give you an actual number (as long as your the range of quantification), if they are above the range of an actual number reading it just means they still have a lot of Blasto.

Im really glad he's doing so well, give him a big hug. He is a beautiful guy.

I should have re-read my reply before posting. I meant to say that God is a comedian, but obviously the effects of Robitussin, Mucinex, and Nyquil had my fingers slurring.  :P

Please tell me what CBC stands for, how it's done and what it reveals. Also how is the kidney function test done?
We thank you so much Lisa,  ;)

CBC Complete Blood Count.  This will check all the components of the blood.  IYour vet will get a lab report and determine if there is any problem based on the chemical makeup of the blood. They can see if there are any heart problems, kidney function, liver, etc....

The kidney function test is a urine test and it is more specific.
