Prednisone prescribed for moose
« on: November 12, 2007, 12:35:05 PM »

My vet added prednisone for moose - does anyone know anything about how this affects them?  He hasn't lost any more weight and we are trying a salve that we will rub under his eyelid of his bad eye - vet says not to give up on the eye yet.  I read eye involvement is bad news.  Is this true??  We are staying on tow a day sporanox for now - Thanks -

Marge is on prednisone drop for her eye only. Do not lose hope on the eye. Marge does not have vision but at least she is still getting better. Stay positive!

(a link to an abstract about ocular blasto involvement treated w/ prednisone)

Prednisone did help DB with her breathing, but we were very sparing with it, as it is an immune suppressor as well.  The abstract does say that it appeared to have no negative effect, so hopefully it'll help save his eye.
Good luck!
