Sadie Sue update
« on: February 14, 2011, 08:26:00 PM »

This morning before I left for work she looked mildly better. But this evening when I came home she looked awful. I took her out to pee and she can barely stand up. She is soooo weak. My mom comes by during the day and feeds her ensure for me while I'm gone. Tonight I tried to feed her some cooked hamburger but she wasn't at all interested. We gave her a raw egg, a can of A/D dog food, and some water.  I really hope she comes through this. If she would take a drink of water I would be thrilled.

This is the really hard part.  She is getting her calories and fluids, its the Blasto that is making her weak.  Like I said it comes in little steps. The fever is down, she rested last night, she looked a little better this morning.  I know how hard it is but Sadie is hanging in there and your doing great.   You have to be strong, love her, encourage her and help her fight.  I am praying you turn the corner soon.  Just give me a yell if you need someone to talk to.

Thank you so much. You make me feel so much better! We're gonna keep fighting. I'm hoping we turn the corner soon too! I won't even mind if she potties on the floor. I feel bad that she is so weak but she is holding it too. Bless her heart! I love her so much and this is tearing me apart.

Awe....I'm glad I can give you some encouragement.  I KNOW I couldn't have got through this without the support I got from everyone here.  Hopefully, we're gonna get you and Sadie through this too.  How is she today?
We need some good news, with Blu having cancer and not hearing about Murphy.  Sadie HAS to pull through.  You tell her that for me and give her a great big puppy hug from me and Lola.

Well yesterday morning she walked a little bit. Just a few steps. But I'm working a lot this week so I took her to my mom and dad's for a couple of days. My mom is discouraging. She thinks we are being cruel and that we should start thinking about putting her down. We just aren't there yet. If she keeps getting worse by this weekend, we might have to make a decision. She still won't drink and can barely stand now. I'm praying for a miracle!

Have you guys tried getting subcutaneous fluids from the vet?  they can give her a full bag of fluids that will help with the dehydration.

What day are you on now?

Please don't be discouraged.  If she walked a little that's a good sign.  How many days have you been on the Itra now?  I'm praying with you.  I was so worried last night.  She is fighting hard.  Maybe she will start to make a turn around if she's coming to her 10th day on Itra.  Your mom is concerned for you, that's just natural.

I picked Sadie up from my mom's this evening, and her eye is starting to swell again. I switched her to Itra 6 days ago. I spoke with the vet and she said she might put Sadie back on both Diflucan and Itra. She doesn't seem to be in any pain, so as long as we can get fluids and food down her, we'll keep going. She is getting sick and tired of the Ensure. I'm ready for something positive to happen.

What has your vet said about the eye?  Has he talked to you about removing it?  Other than that how does she seem?  Has she waked anymore?  Have you asked your vet if the Blasto in the eye could be making her dizzy?  I don't know but it would definately hinder her appitite and make her not want to move?  I could be way off but I was just considering it? I'm praying for you girl!

Ya she could be dizzy... I never thought of that.  I took her in to see her vet today. Her eye started looking worse this morning. She is now down from 70lbs to 45lbs. They drew some blood and said they want to give her FFP (fresh frozen plasma) because her protein and some other levels are off. They kept her over there and started an IV. They are also gonna give her something that is suppose to make her want to eat. And it turns out Diflucan is better for Sadie than Itra. We are switching her back and I need to be more patient. Keeping our fingers crossed. Hopefully I can bring her home on Saturday.
