spread the word....
« on: November 11, 2007, 07:28:34 PM »

ok after all that my family and all here have gone through, and during wilsons treatment i tried sooo hard to get the word out about blasto
it got to be like a broken record most just blew me off so i came up with an idea after i new wilson was in the all clear on how to get people to know about blasto cause liek we all know the sooner treatment starts the better

will this is what i came up with i had a t-shirt made
with wilson on the front saying
"wilson survived"

on the back
"blastomycosis a deadly disease"

this way if people really wanted to know they just ask me and you know it worked
i figured it could help save more lives
the site i had it made from is
ttcgraphics.com
the guys name is John Finke the shirts are very nice and will not wear out fade it is awesume

just a thought if anyone is interested

"most just blew me off" is EXACTLY the reaction most of us get when we try to tell everyone about this disease.  It's a real "head in the sand" way of pretending their pets are safe.  I am currently trying to prepare an article for a national horse magazine and an acquaintance is writing one for a major dog and cat publication.  His article will be as hard hitting as he can make it and I believe he will be posting here both as a writer and as an owner of a frustrated and devastated dog owner.  Each of us will be making a difference in creating awareness about this disease in our different ways.  Your t shirt approach is fantastic so I hope lots of people jump on the bandwagon.  Great idea.

Very cool!  I've noticed that where 7 months ago we were all like deer in the headlights, but the more we pool our experience, the forum takes on a really positive and pro-active tone.  We really are helping each other, and hopefully the new people that sadly show up her.
Way to go guys-

Brilliant.  E-mail me what you have written and I will see if there's anything I can add and I will post it locally and send it by e-mail to everyone I know who has a dog.  Every week I get a mass e-mail about the dangers of something, a reminder to check for breast cancer, signs of heart attack. Thanks for a great idea.

This is great!  You've done a lot of work getting word out. Lee is also working with a paper, and she's set up a blasto story site on facebook. I've also set up the Blastomycosis Lounge, with links and information.

Your t-shirts were a great idea too!

Thx-
I wanted to be able to post some of the research links we've found, and if nothing else, at least direct people to this forum.  Feel free to add anything you like to it.

Great job Jen!

Hey, I accidently discovered a new reality show in the works with dogs, they are having an open, online casting call right now.  I don't know, I thought if anyone was brave enough and their dog well enough after surviving blasto you might want to check it out.  It certainly might be a great way to get the word out about it.  Here's the link:

http://www.cbs.com/primetime/americas_top_dog/

I know all the dogs that have survived blasto are obviously top notch dogs in one way or another, so I am certain there is a winner in our midst.  Thought I would bring it up just for fun.  It would be great to see you on TV!  :D

That is definitely going to be a watcher for me. I get so sucked into reality tv it makes me sick. Ridiculous. I would love to do that with Marge but all shes really talented at is laying down!  ;D

Today I am backing into the driveway with her and she sees another dog while we are still in the car and she got so excited/protective/????? that she started running full force with her front paws on my windows. Now this may not seem like a big deal but can you all imagine her 145 lb big butt scratching my freshly tinted windows????? Nightmare! My dogs run my life so some scratches arent going to make me mad but come on Margie!!!!! Shes so funny I wish you all could meet her! Hope everyone is doing well. Sorry to bore you with my story but it cracked me up!  :D

*Actually*  When I saw that I imediately thought of you and Marge!  I think the two of you could just about make up your own reallity show.  I can't imagine trying to deal with 145 pounds of "got her own ideas"!  My little hard head is enough at 50 lbs.   :D

Oh my gosh, you two slay me and this is just in black and white print!!!!  :D ;D :D
