any humans in MN with Blasto?
« on: February 05, 2011, 02:33:57 AM »

I really need to find a Dr. where we live hat has a clue what we are dealing with. They keep telling my daughter she is depressed and has an adjustment disorder. Adjustment disorder does anyone really adjust to his cause as I see it a disorder is someone diffrent? They think antidepressants are more important to give her than pain meds or anything to make her feel better (non narcotic cause she refuses to talk them) I just am really fed up with her Drs. and they really are not listening to her. She has lost over half of her hair and is now begining homebound (school at home) once again. She has extreme nerve pain from her chest tube that she had 3 months ago. We are just starting our fifth month of this and I just wish she would have one full day pain free. So If anyone knows a good Dr around me I would be very thankful. We Live in Coon Rapids MN.
Thankyou and praying for anyone with Balsto

I don't know if it would help you or not, but cases of blasto must be reported to the Minnesota Department of helth, so the would have to have a list of Doctors reporting it, and might be able to help you find someone you can work with comfortably. I would certainly giv e them a call and see if they have any ideas..

My husband had, and was treated for Blasto by Dr. Kevin Stephan, Infectious Disease Department, SMDC Duluth Clinic now known as Essentia Health care. We had a follow up with Dr. Stephan last week and my husband Chuck has now been off of his meds for 6 months. I believe my husband was diagnosed and survived because of Dr. Stephan expertise and excellent care.  We live in International Falls and ended up in the care of Dr. Stephan as a result of an emergency admission to the Cardiac Unit as his lungs where so filled with Blasto that we where rushed there. Dr. Burke in the same department is also very aquinted with Blasto. I hope this info helps you if you have not yet found a doc.
