Shelley's right - if Teddy's sat is at 90, that's pretty dang good!  I don't think I would keep him on the oxygen line with a number like that.  If you can do the ABG, that would be your best bet, if not, I think I'd seriously think about bringing him home so he's in a familiar place with his family.  He's not going to be getting a lot of oxygen from a line, it's just not an efficient way to get oxygen into an animal.

I like the barking idea.  Izzy hardly ever barks anyway, so getting her to bark is like getting a rock to dance, but if Teddy's a barker it's definitely worth a shot.

I know it's heartwrenching to see, but my vet made me feel a lot better one time when he said that even with the labored breathing and the fever that she wasn't suffering.  She wasn't comfortable by any means, but she wasn't suffering.  If you've ever had pneumonia where it's hard to catch your breath, know that the feeling is very similar.  It sucks, but you can make it through it.  This stuff is horrible, but these dogs are stronger than any human will ever be.  Their capacity to deal with illness is staggering.  And don't forget -- pink and panting, you're fine, even though it's tough.  Blue and heaving for air, you're in trouble.

Get some rest for you, and I guarantee things will look better.  I would hate for you to make a quick decision while you're exhausted and then regret it.  Get some sleep and really think about what your heart is telling you.  Only you know what's right.   No one will ever judge you here, no matter the decision you decide to make.

Hang in there, and call me if you need me.

Hang in there guys! Try to keep yourselves calm, and Teddy will be calm too.

Is there anyway go give him oxygen at home? I know my Vet was going to pump oxygen into a kennel wrapped with saran wrap, so I don't think its really an exact science.

Teddy looks like a great dog, we're praying you can make it over the hump.

Teddys parents sooo sorry you have to go through this horrible disease!

Has your vet suggested any non-steroidal anti-inflammatory/pain meds ?

We used Previcox for god I think 4 months about. (1st month before we knew what he had and then another 3)
I know when Wilson was so sick people told me how bad the pain pills where to use. But all meds have possible side effect. I was told the itra could kill WIlson before the blasto and we would know within the first week if his body could handle it. We where very lucky his did.
The first 48 hours I would not give him any pain meds ,he was going down so fast. Finally I talked to a friend that works in the the ICU at work and she told me that if used right pain meds do a world of wonders. They can be the fine line of living or dyeing. Meaning the pain meds help make the patient more comfy, they can rest better and even eat a little. Rest is so important when ill.
So I went home and once again gave Wilson a pain med with his dinner. It help so much with his breathing and kept the fever down. He had a fever until the swelling had all gone down in his legs.
The labored breathing is sooo scary but the pain meds help that they rest better so they can heal.

I used the pet health pharmacy with great success
(with only $20,000 income and $8,000 total to save wilson that yr, they where a god sent )
And yes I would do it again if I had to.
his meds went for $175 a month to $80.40 for 2 months and it was the same stuff. open up the pills

Sleep for you guys is also VERY important! cry too! It helps, really!
I became a believer in miracles that year.,and God. Trust in him what ever god you may believe in. Ask him for strength and guidance . Thank him also for everything!
For Teddy ,thank him also for every minute he. fights! Sit and talk to him about all the good times and the things you still want to do. They do understand really...
I know my other  2 dogs acted differently  because of the energy I was sending off to them They worried the more I worried. But they gave Wilson great support (he is my alpha dog) so Bandit (my bottom of the pack) would love to some same tease him get on his nerves ,what ever you call it he was just encouraging him to keep fighting is all. Chance he the middle in command(takes the female role but he is a he.)
Always trying so hard to get wilson up and moving also. The both would sleep so close to Wilson they also understood why Wilson need my attention so much. They really did,I thanked them also ever day for helping Wilson and understanding. For us the other 2 dogs where also a god sent.
I pray for all of you here know and and so proud of you all helping each other. Perfect strangers pulling together ...  a miracle right there

It is so great to see the support and the answers from people who know so much about this disease, and about medicine, too....these folks who have been down the breathing hard road, and they really know what they're talking about.......

I an SO sorry for all that Teddy and you guys are going through.  Teddy will let you know when he has had enough, don't worry.  If you have a good vet, they will tell you what your options are, the prognosis, the pros/cons of treatments.  Let your heart be your guide.  Praying for better days ahead.  Know that there are many good thoughts and prayers on this board for your Teddy.  Hugs. Oh Teddy.  He's got a family that loves him and takes care of him. So sorry that he has to deal with this awful fungus.  It's so difficult to deal with a sick dog.
You're in my thoughts.
