Bennie update
« on: November 19, 2010, 09:40:14 AM »

I just don't know. Bennie let himself out in the middle of the night and came back inside and got on the downstairs couch, and there he stayed. I'm worrying because staying away is so unlike him . the stairs may be too much right now.... This morning he won't get up, is all depressed, dehydrated, and low.. I hope it's just a little backslide.. it is so sad. not bright eyed today..We see the vet this am. Good thing.

Hoping the vet visit is going well!!!!!!!!!!

I think mornings are just tough to get up and moving.

Izzy had a round of subcutaneous fluids and it did wonders for her.  She looked a little funny, though. :-)

Vet was soooo happy.   Bennie's bone bump is down 1 mm, he has no fever, lungs and heart sound good, blood looks okay...He needs some Ensure plus today. Think your right, Izz. mornings are just hard. showed vet a movie of Ben's weird tic. She agrees that since it's just more of something that he did before the Blasto, it's just his stress level making it a little more so..... just like my essential tremor.... We are ordering our Itra from a pharmacy in Canada. it's made in the UK, generic, beads in the capsule, as we have been using. it takes extra long due to airport security, however........ 120 of the  100mg capsules generic Itra are $155. That's 1.19 each... I can do that!!! and..... Sporonox isn't much more than that!!!!

Sadie seems to have her bad times in the evenings.  So hang in there Barb.  Just wait for those next few hours when you know he'll perk up.  By the way, gonna cook up that liver tonight.

I wish my dogs would eat liver, but they won't touch it, even if it's cooked.  The only thing raw I can get them to eat is frozen chicken leg quarters.  They would eat raw hamburger if they could get it.  :)

Bennie has an acquired taste. OMG.. He ate an entire rotisserie chicken. I got desperate to get something into him. Refusing everything the last two days.... Out I went for the last possibility. Must be something in it he really needs, because after two days of hardly eating anything, he ate all of that chicken, and I think would eat another if I had one....... one might be enough for his currently  underused digestion....... he's so hard to feed with this affliction.... So. for now this chicken thing is what he will eat... and I need to get to Sam's club, not my fave, and buy up chickens to roast. There won't be any grocery money for me and Heather,  otherwise... We'll we keep going..... maybe a better night's sleep tonight....so happy having a dog that has eaten......Yay.

Wonder what Bennie would think of turkey?  You can ask all your neighbors for their leftovers.    :-\

I'm glad Bennie perked up and ATE.  Keep up the good work.  If I were a dog I'd want a family just like all of you.

Thank GOD Bennie perked up and ate. We are going through the same battle with Quincy but after not eating anything on his own yesterday, today I already got him to eat a piece of ham. This is a rough road they have to travel and it breaks my heart to see our dogs this way. I'm just thankful I've found all of you though, to help all of us encourage one another through this hardship!Bless you all!
